How Our Insulated Jackets Work

Conduction is the transfer of heat through direct contact. If the surface of the hot tub is in direct contact with a colder surface, such as the ground or air, heat will be conducted away from the hot tub and into the colder surface.

Convection is the transfer of heat through a fluid, such as air or water. If the air surrounding the hot tub is cooler than the water inside the hot tub, heat will be lost to the air through convection.

Radiation is the transfer of heat through electromagnetic waves. Hot tubs emit infrared radiation, which can be absorbed by the surrounding air and objects, causing heat to be lost.

An insulated jacket that wraps around the hot tub can help to reduce heat loss through all of these mechanisms. The insulation material used in the jacket acts as a barrier to heat flow, reducing the amount of heat lost through conduction and convection. The jacket also helps to reduce heat loss through radiation by reflecting some of the infrared radiation emitted by the hot tub back towards the water, rather than allowing it to be absorbed by the surrounding air and objects.

How Is This Different from An Insulated Hot Tub Cover

An insulated hot tub cover is a cover designed to go over the top of a hot tub to help keep the heat in and prevent debris from entering the water. On the other hand, our insulated hot tub jacket is designed to wrap around the sides of a hot tub to provide additional insulation and prevent heat loss. 

Both the insulated hot tub cover and jacket have the same goal of reducing heat loss and increasing energy efficiency. However, they have different levels of effectiveness and work in different ways. While the cover is primarily designed to cover the top of the hot tub, the jacket is designed to wrap around the sides of the tub.
